Frequently Asked Questions
Getting your first library card is free for Hardeman County residents. All you need to bring is a photo ID with your current address. (If your photo ID does not have a correct address, we will accept a piece of mail with the current address.)
The first time you get a library card, you may check out 2 items. Once you return those 2 items, you may check out up to 25 items! 5 of those items can be movies.
Books are due two weeks after their checkout date. Movies are due five days after their check out date. You may call once to renew the items over the phone.
Yes! Our staff will fax your documents for you at the circulation desk. The cost is $1 per page. Please note that front and back counts as two pages.
Yes! Prints are 25 cents per copy for black and white and 50 cents per copy for colored pages. Please note front and back copies count as two pages.

Bluetooth (from your phone straight to the printer) (Note: this way is least recommended. Prints are often distorted this way, especially photos from iPhones.)

Printing directly from public computers.
Yes. Our director, Becky White, can notorize your documents. The cost is $5 per document. You just need to bring your ID. Also, if you need a witness, bring one, as we cannot witness for you. Lastly, please note that documents must be signed in the presence of the notary. We recommend calling before to make sure that our notary is present.
Yes. The cost is $1 per page and 50 cents per half page.
Yes! As long as the books and magazines are in good condition, we will gladly accept them. Please mark out personal information before bringing them to the library.
Yes, we can scan documents to the public access computers.
No! While we encourage getting a library card, you only need a library card to check out materials.
If our library does not have the book you are looking for, we are able to request interlibrary loans through other libraries in Tennessee. This service is free of charge to library card holders. We will request the book for you. Interlibrary loans typically take 1-2 weeks to arrive. Once it arrives, we will call and let you know it is ready for pickup.
Yes! We ask that you complete the online application before coming. Once you complete the application, we will reach out to arrange a time for you to volunteer.
Yes! The public is welcome to browse the history room. A library card is not necessary. We also offer genealogy research assistance. However, we ask that you submit a request before coming in so that we have time to research and prepare for your needs.
